GROW in La Crosse, Wisconsin was a summer internship with a marketing emphasis. During my time with GROW, I created original content by taking photographs of the flora at the gardens ran by the organization, as well as capturing the volunteers that contributed to keeping the gardens in the best shape.

Due to this internship being in 2020, conducting any in-person events or fundraisers was just not possible. Because of that, I helped run a virtual fundraiser which concluded with $2,000+ of donations benefitting GROW. An important contribution I was a part of was the opportunity for participants to purchase a garden photoshoot with me in their personal garden, and the photoshoot purchase would be their donation to the fundraiser. The photoshoots raised $250+ of the grand total, and created a growth opportunity for me to gain family photography experience.

Overall, I learned a variety of skills, including writing press releases that were used on local news stations, televised interviewing skills, running a fundraiser, and creating / posting media that followed the organization’s aesthetic. I connected more with nature more than I was expecting, and found a love for plants, bugs, and the life cycle of nature!
